Sometimes as a caring professional, you also need someone else to care for you. When you are in a caring role, you can be at risk of vicarious trauma and/or reaching burnout. It is so important that you take care of yourself and your needs, so that you can continue to show up for your clients in a professional way.
I’m passionate about providing a counselling space for youth workers, community service workers, disability and aged care workers.
Before opening my counselling private practice, I worked in the youth and community service sector since 2003. I worked in the homelessness sector, youth justice, community development and foster care. I have a unique understanding and perspective on what it’s like for you, to provide space for your clients who are at a place of crisis.
When you receive counselling, I believe it’s so important that you feel heard and understood. Unless you’ve been there it can be difficult for others to understand and grasp. (And yes, I’ve been there! I’ve seen and heard it all.)
